Mindfulness Courses and Retreats
We regularly host the Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction (MBSR) course virtually via Zoom.
If you are feeling overwhelmed, stressed, or constantly “on autopilot” ? You’re not alone — and the MBSR course can show you a different way.
Based on the gold standard, the MBSR course is an evidence based, eight-week mindfulness programme originally developed by Jon Kabat-Zinn in 1979 at the University of Massachusetts Medical School. Designed to help individuals manage stress, anxiety, and pain ..... amazingly the format of the course has not changed since!
The MBSR combines mindfulness meditation, gentle movement, and awareness practices to foster resilience and emotional wellbeing. MBSR is now one of the most widely practised and researched mindfulness programmes in the world, with proven benefits designed to:
Manage and reduce stress and anxiety more effectively
Cultivate greater calm, mental clarity, and resilience
Build a healthier relationship with your thoughts, emotions and discover self-compassion.
Create space to truly enjoy your life again....not by escaping life, but by learning how to be present for it.
You will receive a MBSR Handbook via email and you will gain access to tools and techniques as well as a series of live mindfulness practices and group discussions. During the course there is also the opportunity to attend a half-day retreat, making it effectively a 9 week course. The course is also CPD accredited, with 16 hours awarded provided you attend at least 6 out of the 8 classes.
Course Content:
Session 1 ‘Introducing Mindfulness, Session 2: Perception & Creative Responding (handling stress), Session 3: The Power & Pleasure of being present, Session 4: The Shadow of Stress & Patterns of Reactivity, Online Silent Retreat, Session 5: Finding Space for Responding (rather than reacting), Session 6: Working with Difficult Situations,Session 7: Cultivating Kindness to Self and Others, Session 8: A New Beginning (keeping mindfulness alive).
Whether you’re completely new to mindfulness or looking to deepen your practice, you’re warmly welcome.
We would love to have you on the course, please see below for course dates and payment links.
Feedback from previous participants on Lorna’s course:
‘The whole experience was fantastic. I knew a bit about mindfulness and had done a short session on it before. Lorna’s sessions offered a gentle reminder to some
techniques and introduced new ones to me’.
‘This was a great course to be part of. Lorna lead it in a calm, relaxed, warm and welcoming way that allowed everyone to be safe and relaxed. I think her warmth and kindness meant that people felt able to show vulnerability, which in turn gave us great talking points and things to reference when learning about mindfulness.’
‘Lorna, you had a knack of bringing a calmness to each session and making everyone feel relaxed. The meditation recordings have been very helpful to me and each session has given me life skills/tools to use going forward’.
‘This has been revolutionary for me and I have felt a real difference in how I approach situations. I often catch myself “stopping” to pause and reflect or approaching common tasks mindfully. Thanks Lorna!’
‘Just a really great course. You brought it to life in your own unique way. I can imagine that many practitioners would make it far to wooly and fluffy, but you always had a tangible practical spin on it’
